Kids Connect is available to West Bloomfield students from Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Indoor/outdoor activities, hands-on learning fun, creative arts, on-site assemblies and field trips.
Our mission is to provide each child with a strong foundation for life-long learning and inspiration to excel through a challenging curriculum focused on academics as well as social-emotional development in a safe, nurturing environment.
Kitchen Kidz is a culinary day camp designed to teach kids about nutrition, food assembly, safety, cleanliness, art, and science through the joy of cooking and eating. Students will make hypoallergenic trail mix, learn a cold pickling recipe and method, (depending on the weather, a naturally carbonated soda from pine needles), frozen yogurt fruit bites, making butter from scratch, making pizza and bread dough from scratch for a fun take-home activity, fake 'snickers' using dates and dark chocolate, charcuterie, hummus, ice cream in a bag, muffins, fruit salad, kebabs, wraps, omelettes in a mug, and more. Kids will not need to pack a snack or lunch. Kids will need a refillable water bottle. We will require allergy information to be submitted directly to Empowerment at the time of registration s/t curriculum modifications can be made in a timely fashion.
Kitchen Kidz is the ultimate way to have your cake and eat it too! Kids cook snacks, meals, and treats that they REALLY love. Young chefs explore the science of flavor by balancing heat, salt, sugar, fats, and acids. They also discover the art of food through creative plating and food-art activities. We emphasize teamwork, responsibility, and safety while building skills, self-esteem, and creativity. But most of all, we have a ton of fun and create memories that last a lifetime. We're so excited to meet this season's young chefs at Scotch Elementary. See you at the table!
